Here is my camera on a Lego 'dolly'. I didn't realise it was so heavy it would make the rails bend! I think metal rails might be a better option.

Controlling stepper motors

According to the following articles, we need a ULN2003/2803 Darlington transistor array to control a stepper motor, for moving the camera:
